On Saturday 30th April the club held its annual presentation evening at St Patrick's Catholic Club in Huddersfield. Prizes were given in various categories for athletes who had been nominated over the last year. It was a very successful evening with bar, food and of course our popular annual quiz. The orange T-shirt prize was a particular hit and may become an annual option in the raffle! Next year we must prepare a junior quiz too! This was the first time at the venue and we had just enough tables and more space than previously; it was easier to get to in the centre of town and car parking was available for those carrying food and trophies, or even young athletes!
Thanks to all who arranged it, to David Owen (for ensuring the trophies were polished and ready for him to announce the winners); to Tom Reed who presented the prizes in the absence of our President Ian Mitchell (Ian is abroad in preparation for and assault on Mount Everest!); to Sally and Steve Crank for organising the food and to those who brought supplies; to the Committee for organising things ... did I leave anyone out, hope not!
The Committee have again tried to nominate athletes and helpers who not only show promise but also commitment to the club and the sport over a period of time. It is always difficult to choose as there are so many great athletes and we have a growing junior section with some real talent coming through. We also have a really supportive group of parents and helpers who have already had a big impact at the club after our meeting in February.
Please don't be disappointed if you were not one of the trophy winners this time, you are still a valuable part of our club, and there is always next time... We hope the awards inspire you to even greater things in the coming year!
Some images of trophy winners are given below. you can see more on our facebook page provided by Jim McCormack who took the photos on the night
