Club Presentation Evening March 23rd 2018

On Friday 23rd March the club held its annual presentation evening at the Huddersfield Town Canalside complex in Huddersfield. This was the first time we had used this venue and it proved a good size for the event. There were some problems with sound in the back room but we managed after a few adjustments and will know that for next year should we return.
Prizes were given in various categories for those who had been nominated over the last year. There were awards for Athletes and for those who help run the club; there were quizzes with prizes, food and music. I would have let my hair down but I have none.

Thanks to all who arranged it, especially to David Owen (for ensuring the trophies were polished, engraved and ready for him to announce the winners); to Steve and Allyson Clark who booked the venue and to the Club Committee who work tirelessly in the background to organise the event. Thanks of course to everyone who came and made it a great success. Not forgetting quiz-meisters for the entertainment!

The Committee always try to nominate athletes and helpers who not only show promise but also commitment to the club and the sport over a period of time. It is always difficult to choose, as there are so many great athletes and people who give up their time; we have a growing junior section with some real talent which is now beginning to feed though in to the senior ranks in larger numbers. We also have a really supportive group of parents and helpers who have had a big impact at the club and are a key part of what we do. Without them we would struggle to keep the club going

Please don't be disappointed if you were not one of the trophy winners this time, you are still a really valuable part of our club, and there is always next time... the awards are given to inspire you to even greater things in the coming year!

Some images of trophy winners and the winners of the races in the morning are given below. You can see more on our facebook page provided by Jim McCormack, Steve Clark and Tom Reed who took photos on the night. We decided not to have individual prize winner photos on the website as there are so many and it is more accessible on our facebook page. So there are a few photos here and facebook contains others. I'm sure many of you will have taken your own too! Please add them to our facebook page

We are very proud of our club and how it continues to develop and are really excited about the prospects for the coming season with so many great Athletes. This year for the first time we will compete in club vests with our name printed on so no one can mistake our colours! Thanks to the Club Committee and especially Victoria Steel for arranging this before the summer outdoor season starts
