Age group rules Track and Field 2026

Adapted from the EA website guidance on new age groups
under 12s

(Shorthand is 'u12s')
To compete as an Under 12 the athlete must be Under 12 (i.e. 10 or 11) as at midnight on the 31 August at the end of that competition year

under 10s
(Shorthand 'u10s')
(Note: at Longwood you need to be 9 years or older to be a member)
To compete as an Under 10 the athlete must be 9 years old as at midnight on the 31 August at the end of that competition year

under 14s

(Shorthand 'u14s')
To compete as an Under 14 the athlete must be Under 14 (i.e. 12 or 13) as at midnight on the 31 August at the end of that competition year

under 16s

(Shorthand 'u16s')
To compete as an Under 16 the athlete must be Under 16 (i.e. 14 or 15) as at midnight on the 31 August at the end of that competition year

under 18s

(Shorthand 'u18s')
To compete as an Under 18 the athlete must be Under 18 (i.e. 16 or 17) as at midnight on the 31 August at the end of that competition year

Older age groups

Anyone who is under 18 is a 'Junior' athlete at Longwood
(But 'Junior' also includes U20s for competitions)
The cut off date for u20s is December 31st in the competition year (not August)
Anyone who is 20 and older is a 'Senior'; over 35 they are a 'Master'

Athlete performances and records

Athlete performances are recorded for official events on the 'Power of 10' website - a national database of performances. Once you have paid membership and competed in an official event your name and results will appear on this database
